The House is Plymouth University’s state-of-the-art centre, opened in 2014, which is adjacent to the Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery.
Located in the heart of Plymouth city's central quarter, The House boasts a 200-seat flexible studio theatre, built to the highest technical specification and featuring world class facilities. As part of the university’s School of Humanities and Performing Arts it is used to create the artists and technicians of tomorrow.
As part of the theatre development a Cablenet was designed and installed in conjunction with theatre consultants Grainge Architects and main contractor Russell Cawberry.
The installation was a single long wired grid 13.6 x 20.8 m. In order to maintain the tension in the grid, a central beam was positioned half way down the long side, which enables tension to be maintained in both halves of the grid.
