Sheffield College’s Norton campus was relocated to Hillsborough, to become the new home of the Music and Performing Arts Faculty of the Sheffield College.
Part of this project involved the construction of a new performing arts and creative media building. The new building houses a performance theatre, TV studio, five drama/dance studios and various other recording, teaching and practice rooms.
The plans for the new theatre building involved the supply of a long wire, custom Cablenet tension wire grid. The outer frame measured 14.7m x 17.7m, which involved the weaving of nearly 8km of wire rope to create the tension wire grid.

Drama by DesignThe Cablenet has completely changed the way we work in terms of increased speed and efficiency during rigging and fit up. It’s great to be able to walk safely all over the roof void, and we can locate lighting positions or rigging points wherever they are needed, rather than having to work around the previous restrictions.
